چکیده

The diversity of anaerobic microorganisms in terrestrial mud volcanoes is largely unexplored. Here we report the isolation a novel sulfate-reducing alkaliphilic bacterium (strain F-1T) from volcano located at Taman peninsula, Russia. Cells strain F-1T were Gram-negative motile vibrios with single polar flagellum; 2.0–4.0 µm length and 0.5 diameter. temperature range for growth was 6–37 °C, an optimum 24 °C. pH 7.0–10.5, 9.5. Strain utilized lactate, pyruvate, molecular hydrogen as electron donors sulfate, sulfite, thiosulfate, elemental sulfur, fumarate or arsenate acceptors. In presence end products lactate oxidation acetate, H2S CO2. Lactate pyruvate could also be fermented. major product fermentation acetate. main cellular fatty acids anteiso-C15:0, C16:0, C18:0, iso-C17:1ω8. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that most closely related to Pseudodesulfovibrio aespoeensis (98.05% similarity). total size genome isolate 3.23 Mb genomic DNA G + C content 61.93 mol%. contained all genes essential dissimilatory sulfate reduction. We propose assign genus Pseudodesulfovibrio, new species, alkaliphilus sp. nov. type (= KCTC 15918T = VKM B-3405T).

A novel alkaliphilic spore-forming bacterium was isolated from the benthic sediments of the highly mineralized steppe Lake Khilganta (Transbaikal Region, Russia). Cells of the strain, designated Х-07-2T, were straight to slightly curved rods, Gram-stain-positive and motile. Strain Х-07-2T grew in the pH range from 7.0 to 10.7 (optimum pH 9.6-10.3). Growth was observed at 25-47 °C (optimum 30 °C...

A novel extreme alkaliphile was isolated from a mine water containment dam at 3.2 km below land surface in an ultra-deep gold mine near Carletonville, South Africa. The cells of this bacterium were straight to slightly curved rods, motile by flagella and formed endospores. Growth was observed over the temperature range 20-50 degrees C (optimum 40 degrees C; 45 min doubling time) and pH range 8....

A novel alkaliphilic bacterium, strain 4CAT, was isolated from decomposing wood taken from the shore of Soap Lake, a saline, alkaline lake in Grant County, WA, USA. Cells of the isolate were Gram-negative, asporogenous, short, motile rods that utilized only a limited range of organic acids as sole carbon and energy sources. In addition to oxygen, the strain possessed the ability to reduce in th...

Desulfovibrio gabonensis sp. nov., a new moderately halophilic sulfate-reducing bacterium isolated from an oil pipeline.

Two moderately halophilic sulfate-reducing bacteria were isolated from an African oil pipeline and designated strains SEBR 3640 and SEBR 2840T (T = type strain). Both of these strains possess traits that define the genus Desulfovibrio. The cells of both isolates were motile curved rods that had a single polar flagellum and contained desulfoviridin, and both isolates utilized lactate, pyruvate, ...
